Pirate & Shanty Festival

An exciting event is almost upon us - the Annual Brixham Pirate & Shanty Festival is set to raid Brixham from Friday 30th April - Monday 3rd May with plenty of Yo Ho Ho Fun, games, music and dance. A must event for the whole family.
The festival opens with a Pirates of the Caribbean flavour from 6.00pm on Friday - a taste of the Caribbean from Mama's kitchen with the heat turned up for the fire breathing and limbo dancing. Part of the Festival is the "Aargh Factor" contest of Shanty & Folk music - sure to get those feet tapping and hands clapping.
Saturday is an action packed day with plenty to entertain you from visiting one of Brixham Heritage vessels 'Vigilance' to Treasure Hunts and workshops from 10.00am to the not to be missed sea battle upon the Golden Hind at 9.00pm - Stand by to repel boarders Simon!
On Sunday the fun continues but the highlight of the day will be the Guinness World Record Attempt for the Largest Gathering of Pirates - Brixham held the record last year with over 1300 pirates - then lost it again................its time to grab it back and bring it home and YOU can help.
To qualify you have to register and dress as a pirate - each pirate must wear an eye patch, a pirate hat/bandana/appropriate trousers/shirt/dress and carry a sword. Go on.........you know you want to! The great countdown starts at 2.15pm then the fun carries on with yet more music and mayhem ending with the famous Brixham Ghost Walk at 7.30pm - join in if you think you're hard enough......it's scary stuff (Meet at the Prince William Statue).
The Pirate Market takes place on Sunday so make sure you have plenty of dubloons to spend on a treasure or two for yourself and the music and family fun goes on.
All motley crew are welcome so come on down for some swashbuckling fun with Cap'n Jack and his sidekicks.
Don't forget that Brixham welcomes Pirates every Thursday throughout the summer - so make a note of Pirate Thursdays if you are looking for some family fun.
