2011 and Aweigh we go!

Welcome back to brixham chat.......where have you been til now? With so many events and things going on make a date to keep checking in..........we would hate for you to miss out on any of the extra special events planned for 2011.

The season got off to a flying start with the Annual Pirate Festival - more swashbuckling fun and piratical mania than you could shake your cutlass at!
This years aim was to set another world record attempt..............to create a mile of live pirates.
Did they make it?.................arrrrgh probably m'dears but you will have to keep watching this space for confirmation.

Whats next on the agenda?
The 19th Annual Brixham Heritage Festival which opens with a bang on the 28th May. Fireworks will round off the first and last days (4th June) but in between there is so much going on that you will be hard pressed to keep up with all the action.
Clog Dancers, Samba Dancers, Sword Dancers, Lion Dancers, Majorettes, Sea Shanties, Folk, Blues, Jazz, Big Bands, Trios, Duo's, Solos and goodness knows what else.
The children will be well catered for with Cosmo the Clown, Les the Fez, The Really Wild Show (complete with creepy crawlies), have a Hoot with the Owls, learn to draw with the Strand Art Gallery, take part in the special workshops at the Museum and Scala Hall and, only for the big and brave - take a walk on the dark side looking for ghostly goings on with the original Brixham Ghostwalk.

Not all the events are on the quayside - the Vintage Car Rally will be out by the Breakwater and the fantastic Heritage Sailing Vessels will be racing around the bay - great vantage point on the breakwater or travel aboard one of the passenger ferries that cross the bay to get a closer view.

Our very grateful thanks go to Pat Osborne and her faithful team who work so hard to bring you so much free entertainment..............pssst donations are always thankfully received to ensure that this Festival can not only continue but go to even greater heights.

We look forward to seeing you very soon - plenty of car parking at the Marina Car Park or the Park & Ride at Churston or hop on a No.12 bus or one of the regular ferries that connect Brixham with both Paignton and Torquay..........come on in - the door is always open and the welcome always warm!
